Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They're widely used by website owners to make their sites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide reporting information.

Cookies set by the site owner — in this case, Magnet Care LLC — are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by anyone else are called third-party cookies. We use first- and third-party cookies for a few reasons. Some are required for technical reasons in order for the site to operate — we call these essential or strictly necessary cookies. None of them are written unless you grant analytics consent — before that, the only storage in use is what signs you in and keeps the site secure. Served by PostHog, our product analytics provider. We send PostHog which pages were viewed and, if you're signed in, your account identifier — never your name, never your email, and nothing about your orientation, your reflections, or how you feel.

Controlling cookies in your browser

The steps for accepting or refusing cookies vary by browser. Check the help menu in whichever browser you use — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and others each document this in their own settings. Most advertising networks also offer their own opt-out for targeted advertising; search for the Digital Advertising Alliance in your region for details.

Web beacons — also called tracking pixels or clear gifs — are tiny image files that report back when a page is loaded or an email is opened. We do not put them in our emails. When you receive something from Magnet, we do not record whether you opened it.

On the site itself, page-level measurement is handled by the analytics described above and is governed by the same choice: if you decline analytics, none of it runs.

Local and session storage

Beyond cookies, we use your browser's local storage for two things: remembering your cookie choice on this device, and holding an in-progress orientation draft so a refresh doesn't lose your answers before you've decided to keep them. Neither is sent anywhere. Clearing site data removes both, which also resets your cookie choice back to unanswered.

We do not run targeted advertising, we do not embed ad-network pixels, and we do not sell or share your information with advertisers. Given what people tell this product about their emotional state, building an advertising surface on top of it would be incompatible with how Magnet is meant to work.

If that ever changes, this notice will say so before it takes effect, and it will be a choice you opt into rather than one you have to find and switch off.

We may update this Cookie Notice from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use, or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please revisit this notice periodically to stay informed.
